Hello there!

Dizzy Bee is the best game on the app store

I found Dizzy Bee on the app store last night and decided to take a chance on it. I’m very glad I did. It is a wonderful puzzle game that really demonstrates the iPhone’s potential as a gaming platform.

Rather than struggle to describe the the gameplay, I’ll share the YouTube trailer with you. While you watch it, bear in mind that this little gem costs £1.79.

No, I didn’t misplace the decimal point. One pound, seventy nine pence.

Unbelievable.

[UPDATE] A free version is now available. There is no excuse for not trying it!

You know, from the moment I saw Lisa playing LocoRoco and twisting the PSP left and right as though it would help, I thought someone really needs to add motion sensing to the PSP and that game would rock.

So I’m rather cheery that it made its way to the iPhone and it goes to show that what makes a killer game, is a killer game, not fancy graphics and gore.

At two quid every iPhone user should have it installed, sure beats snake.

I’d love to play LocoRoco - developers seem to be rushing to create the iPhone’s answer to it. Dizzy Bee might be one, but the upcoming Rolando looks like the closest.

I like my “traditional” games that use a pad or stick, but there’s method in abandoning them. Tilt and touch are more tactile control methods and may prove more accessible to people who don’t play many games.

In fact, that may be the iPhone/iPod Touch’s advantage - it’s a games console that Apple can sell to people who don’t buy games consoles.

Comments are welcome. Keep it friendly and on-topic please.
