There is no setting for this, but it would be easy enough to achieve by tweaking the PHP code.

Open sc_admin/includes/contact/posted.php

From about line 232 you'll find a block of code that starts with a line that says:

if ($website != "") ...

This block continues to about line 264 and ends with the line that says:

$notify_body = ...

Comment out or delete all of that code.

Here is an amended version of that last line that you should add to your PHP after the commented/deleted code:

$notify_body = "\n$name_full has sent you a message.\n\nView all messages received in your online inbox.\n\n----------------------------------------$show_joinlist";

This should achieve the desired effect.

You might also like to add the URL of your simpleContact admin into that message, so you get a link in the email.

Please note that should you update simpleContact in future, you will have to re-apply any modifications you make.

setup the script and its working great, thanks for the great work and documentation.

Only question is it possible to only have the emial send a notification and not all the fields from the form?
I would very much only like to get a notification that I have a submission and then have to login to the admin section to check the response.

Thanks again.

Thanks for this :)

SPF is a security measure designed to help prevent spammers sending email from forged addresses. It works by adding a record to your DNS, stating that a server is allowed to send email for that domain.

For example, Campaign Monitor recommend that you set up SPF for their server before you send a mailshot. It can be the difference between an email arriving or being deleted by the ISP before it even reaches the user's inbox.

A good host will often provide an interface for this, or sort it out for you on request.

Propagation of changes to your DNS can take anything from a few hours to days.

In case anyone else runs into this: I installed SimpleContact on a windows h-sphere server where smtp authentication was required. We discovered that I had to enable SPF ("Sender Policy Framework") and choose pass, for the emails to go out. I was getting the auto response emails, but not the ones with the actual visitor info until this setting was changed. It took a while for this SPF enabled setting to work.

Thanks for this!

Note to all users: If you modify the simpleContact code to suit your particular needs, please do post on these forums. Not only does it help other users, but if there is evidence of significant demand I may decide to roll a feature into the mainstream release.

Please also take care when upgrading from a customised copy. Be sure to back up your files so that your changes can be reinstated.

Client wanted to cut and paste address information from his email received when user visits site to create mailing label.

As written, SimpleContact includes a label (ie., Address Line 1:) before each field. This can easily be modified in sc_admin\include\contact\posted.php. Instead of deleting labels from existing code (always a pain in the neck when dealing with code that will be updated periodically by the developer -- 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, etc.), I have chosen to add some values to the $notify_body variable.

At then end of $notify_body -- just before the end quote and semi-colon (";), add the following:

\n----------------------------------------------\nInfo for Address Label:\n\n$label_name$label_position$label_company$label_addr1$label_addr2$label_town$label_country

To support these new values which adds a new line (\n) if there is field is not blank, add the following definitions just below:
if ($pcode != "") {$show_pcode = "Post / ZIP code: $pcode\n";} else {$show_pcode = "";}

Add:
if ($name_full != "") {$label_name = "$name_full\n";} else {$label_name = "";}
if ($position != "") {$label_position = "$position\n";} else {$label_position = "";}
if ($company != "") {$label_company = "$company\n";} else {$label_company = "";}
if ($addr1 != "") {$label_addr1 = "$addr1\n";} else {$label_addr1 = "";}
if ($addr2 != "") {$label_addr2 = "$addr2\n";} else {$label_addr2 = "";}
if ($town != "") {$label_town = "$town $pcode\n";} else {$label_town = "";}
if ($country != "") {$label_country = "$country\n";} else {$label_country = "";}

Alex on "What is PHPMailer?"

With the release of simpleContact 1.1 I added a more robust mechanism for sending emails.

PHPMailer is a “full featured email transfer class for PHP” that exposes a much greater range of features than the standard PHP mail() function. I have it used on several projects in the past, and it has proven itself both highly useful and reliable.

PHPMailer is produced by Brent R. Matzelle (original author), Andy Prevost (project administrator), Patrice Fournier, Chris Ryan, Cem Hurturk, Tom Klingenberg and Jaime Bozza.

The version of PHPMailer that I have supplied is version 1.73, the latest at the time of authoring.

PHPMailer is free software. It is distributed in accordance with the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). It is supplied in its entirety and unmodified (see phpmailer-1.73.zip in the application download). There is no warranty or responsibility on the part of the original author.

Please note:

I have supplied phpmailer-1.73.zip in complete form to fulfil my obligation under the LGPL

You only need to upload the class.phpmailer.php and class.smtp.php files (which are already in place in the simpleContact folder) for simpleContact to use it

If for any reason PHPMailer fails in use, simpleContact will revert to the PHP mail() function

If you use PHPMailer as part of simpleContact for commercial purposes, please consider making a donation to the PHPMailer project

Alex on "Is it possible to mass email all mailing list subscribers?"

simpleContact is first and foremost a form builder. There is no functionality for sending emails; it is just about gathering permission.

This is because there is a thin line between mass mailing and spamming. Without tools for spam testing, checking messages display properly in email clients, scheduled sending, managing bounces and unsubscribes, reporting etc you don't have a real solution.

I plan on adding features that will enable you to use your data with some of the excellent, full-featured mailshot systems that already exist like Campaign Monitor.

Update: simpleContact Pro includes CSV export which you can use to import your list into many mass mailers.
